“Matrescence
like
Adolescence”

Aurélie Athan, Ph.D

Hi, I’m Eliane

... and I’m a trained Mama Rising Facilitator, Postgraduate Student of Trinity College Dublin and former Gallery Manager. But my biggest job for the last decade has been being a Mama.

For what feels like a lifetime now I’ve walked, and often stumbled, down the path of motherhood. Or Matrescence, as it should be known. The process of Becoming a Mother.

I believe this process is never over. And I think especially mamas who have been mothering for years can suffer from poor mental health.

Joy, Healing, Newfound...

Sadness, Grief, Loss...

Motherhood is never linear.

Never just one thing. Things can change, and will, in an instant. How you feel about something can change to the opposite in the blink of an eye, the flash of a tiny smile, soft skin touch, a brain-splitting shriek.

I have struggled with contradicting feelings of joy and loss, peace and anger, happiness and guilt for most of my Matrescence journey. It can be so confusing and overwhelming.

So The Sane Mama was born. A space to start a conversation on how we can move from survival mode into a more joyful and brave life as mamas. To bring some of my ideas to life, through workshops and events. I’m so glad you are here!
